Time-lapse Shows The Incredible Way Crabs Shed Their Shells

There's a whole different world in our oceans and seas. With a planet that's more water than land, it's not too surprising that we can find so many fascinating creatures lurking deep within the waters. Sure, some can seem a bit creepy or spooky if you dive too far down, but that doesn't make them any less interesting. Others, like the octopus who can actually walk on land, have adapted to living above and below in a way that's pretty eerie.

I love finding new information about all the marine critters. While most people would probably rather focus on the cuter, cuddlier looking animals roaming the wild waters, I enjoy shining a light on the crustaceans as well!

That's why I was so excited to stumble upon this awesome time-lapse showing a crab shedding its outer shell. It honestly never occurred to me that it was something they might do, but of course, it made sense after watching the clip.

At first it looks like he's wiggling around, maybe trying to get comfortable inside his bright green tub. Soon, however, you notice the tremors are actually slowly separating his little body from the shell so he can debut his new look.

Can you imagine if this was how we gave ourselves a makeover? It takes a lot of patience from the little guy, but it's amazing to see a perfect replica of him waiting by his side by the time he's done.

Take a look and be sure to SHARE the transformation with your friends!
