Mom Recognizes Her Son STEALING On Security Footage. Her Reaction? OMG!

Most mothers would do almost anything for the sake of their children. There's an innate instinct within a mother to protect and help her kids in any way.

Sometimes this love can come in the form of "tough" love. I had a pretty strict mother who made sure I had a curfew, limited my television and computer usage, and made me work hard for my allowance. If I misbehaved, the punishment was swift and matched the crime. There were no light slaps on the wrist in our household. Now that I'm older, I can't express just how grateful I am to her for that.

Recently, a Florida mother has everyone talking after she turned her son over to the police when she recognized him as a wanted criminal on the police department Facebook page.

How should a mother react in such a situation? Some people say she should have talked to the son, or protected him. Some say she should have hid him so he doesn't ruin his future. Some think she should have encouraged him to turn himself in.

Others disagree and say she did the best thing a mother could do in that situation. He's 18, so it's time he learns to accept the ramifications of his actions.

The mother was browsing her Facebook when, suddenly, she came across a familiar face.

Obviously, Facebook is full of familiar faces — that's the point of it — but this face wasn't where she would want to see it.

Her son's face was all over the Casselberry Police Facebook page as a wanted shoplifter. The police report said that the suspect had entered a Target, opened up seven Playstation Controllers, and two Xbox controllers and left without paying for him. It amounted to approximately $670 worth of stolen goods. Hidden security cameras at the Target had caught her son red handed.

She marched right into his room and saw her son still wearing the same shirt he'd been wearing in the security footage.

She didn't even wait until morning. She called the police right then and there at 1 a.m.

The son is 18 and in college. He claimed he needed money and had tried to resell them. The police recovered five, but the rest were sold to a local GameStop store.

The police say that listing their wanted criminals on Facebook has led to a lot of tips, but this the first time they've actually had the mother make a report.

What do you think? Is this a mean, unsympathetic mother, or was she doing the best thing for her son?
