Blake Shelton Reportedly Blindsided By Miranda Lambert Bringing Up Their Ugly Divorce Again

After their divorce, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have both spoken about their feelings and experiences here and there. But they announced their split more than 10 years ago at this point. So, when Miranda brought their divorce up again recently, it reportedly caught Blake off guard and brought up some unexpected emotions.

A source told In Touch that Blake thought their issues were “all in the past now.” Miranda’s recent mention of the split reportedly made Blake feel bad about what happened all over again.

Blake previously described the divorce as “devastating.”

Miranda isn’t the only one who has publicly opened up about how painful the divorce was. When they announced their split in 2015, they noted that “this was not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.”

A few years later, in 2018, Blake said navigating the aftermath of the divorce was challenging for him, but there was one thing that made things a lot easier: meeting his now-wife, Gwen Stefani. He said he “hit rock bottom” after the divorce, though he also made it sound like his experience was not any different from what the average person goes through when faced with something difficult.

“When I was going through my divorce and just, you know, hit rock bottom just like anybody does when they go through something that devastating, it’s a miracle that I met somebody that was going through the same exact thing that I was at the same exact moment in time,” he said on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, per Us Weekly.

Miranda recently admitted the split was hard on her too.

The topic came up on the And The Writer Is… podcast. Similar to Blake, she framed it as something that would be difficult for anyone. But certain factors, like the fact that they’re both celebrities, made it even more complicated. “I got divorced and that sucks for anyone, especially in the public eye, especially on tour, especially in the middle of a very public career, two of us, you know what I mean?” she said on the podcast. “It just was a really not fun time.”

Apparently, this comment got Blake thinking about the divorce all over again.

Both Blake and Miranda are married to other people now. And in the past, they’ve suggested that their split was amicable. At the same time, it sounds like it was messy and emotionally fraught.

The source who spoke to In Touch suggested that Blake still has some regrets, even though both he and Miranda have moved on. “He really thought they’d both put that chapter behind them,” the source claimed. “He’s not angry, he accepts that she has the right to talk about her life and, truth be told, he does feel bad.”

The source went on to allege that “their divorce was pretty ugly and there was a lot of bitterness.” At the same time, “he’s not holding onto any bitterness towards Miranda.” It seems that he just thinks he could’ve handled things better. “If anything, he thinks it’s sad that things ended on such bad terms, especially because they had so many wonderful years together,” the source alleged.
