Grandpa Builds A Disney-Inspired Theme Park In His Backyard For His Grandkids

I remember playing in my grandparents' yard on many occasions when I was a child. They had a swing set, a sandbox, and many plastic toys for all their grandchildren to use when they came to town. They were always prepared for us, making sure that there was never a dull moment in the house. I'm sure you remember similar times at your grandparents' house, too! But it seems like nothing can beat just how prepared this awesome grandpa was for the time he could spend with his grandkids.

When Steve Dobbs was growing up, he and his friends watched Disneyland being built just two miles away. When it was completed, they spent their summers in the park, like it was their own backyard.

Decades later, he started imaging of ways he could keep his grandkids and their friends entertained, and had the brilliant idea to create a homemade Pirates of the Caribbean-themed ride. Since then, his backyard has become home to many more rides. Dubbed "Dobbsland," the backyard theme park strikes a stunning resemblance to the real thing, and was created with the help of a team of student engineers.

Now, take a peek at Dobbsland — it sure looks like a fun time!
