The game of chess is an art in many ways. It's layered and complicated, and you always have to think one or two steps ahead.
Just like creating a piece of art, chess involves strategies and tactics to succeed.
One incredible DIY-er managed to combine her artistic abilities and love of chess to create one of the most gorgeous chessboards I have ever seen. The beauty is truly in the details, and as soon as you see how it's made, you'll know exactly what I mean.
The inside of the chess box even comes with a very enlightening surprise!
With an incredible amount of patience and talent, this DIY-er simply used thin pieces of paper to quill an entire chess set from scratch. The results are very unique!

This Instructables DIY-er began by building and painting the outside of her chess box.
She chose a unique crystal snow paste on the exterior to add texture.
Once this dried, she carefully began to place LED strips along the sides of the box.
These little lights will give off the most incredible effect once the project is complete.
Next came the most time-consuming part of the project. She began to quill each and every chess piece.
The level of detail she put into each piece is almost unbelievable.
From the pawns to the kings, each piece is unique in its own way.
She wanted to make sure all of her hard word would remain intact.
By painting over each piece with a clear varnish, she was able to make them much more durable.
Lastly, she carefully coiled pieces to act as squares for the chessboard.
She made a total of 64 squares, with two different combinations of colors.
After gluing the squares together, she placed a transparent lid on top to ensure that everything would stay in place, and that she'd have a smooth surface to place her chess pieces.
The end result is truly incredible.
One of the best parts of this project? Not only does it look incredible in the natural light, but wait until she turns off the lights.
The LED strips she added earlier on in the process give this chessboard the most incredible glow. You can even play in the dark!
Even if you aren't a big fan of playing chess, you have to admit this would make an incredible addition to any home.
And when this DIY-er is done playing with her incredible creation for the day, the pieces fit safely back inside the box!
