But this also applies to the animal world! It's thanks to this intricate series of genetic events that we get to see rare animals, like this white doe and her newborn, or this incredibly rare giraffe.
Now, the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin, TX, has a rare animal of its own — and if you happen to be in the area, you can see the little one for yourself.
Keepers eagerly awaited the birth of a lion cub, but were shocked when they saw the newborn's fur. It's hard to tell at first, but upon getting a closer look, you can tell that his coat is all white — a rare occurrence…
A lion mom at the Ellen Trout Zoo in Texas recently gave birth to a tiny white tiger cub.
The occurrence is extremely rare, and it's even rarer to see it happen at a zoo.
The white lion cub is not albino, as many would believe.
In fact, it isn't uncommon for cubs to be born white, and change color once they are a few months old. (The cub is only 4 days old in these adorable photos!)
Now, only time will tell if this little one will grow up and keep his coat color.
But regardless of what he will look like in the future, many animal lovers couldn't get enough of this little guy, especially his bond with his mama.
