Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been quite busy settling into their routine as a family of three. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison, on May 6, 2019.
Since then, fans have gotten very few glances at the youngest royal. He was formally introduced to the public during an intimate photo-call at Windsor Castle two days after he was born. For Mother's Day, a sweet shot of the baby's tiny foot in a garden of forget-me-nots was posted. As the summer draws closer and the royals have some downtime, many are wondering when we'll see the 1-month-old again.
The most likely time we'll get some new looks at Archie is at his baptism. Sources close to the royal family have estimated the christening would take place in July, prior to all the family members taking their summer break. If not, the event isn't expected to happen until the fall.
Fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle anxiously awaited the birth of the couple's first child. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first announced they were expecting last October.
Meghan gave birth to the couple's first child on May 6. They welcomed a little boy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
From the very beginning, it was clear that Harry was simply elated to become a father. He also marveled at his wife's abilities during the pregnancy and delivery.
We were treated to our first glimpse of baby Archie when the family stepped out for their first photo-call. It took place just two days after Archie's birth, at Windsor Castle.
On Mother's Day, Meghan shared a beautiful photo where she was holding her son's tiny feet in her hand. In the background of the photo were forget-me-nots, the favorite flower of the late Princess Diana.
Since the sweet photo, Harry and Meghan haven't shared any other pictures of their little boy. The family is definitely still adjusting to their new normal.
Meghan made her first public appearance over the weekend. The Duchess of Sussex attended Trooping the Colour in celebration of Queen Elizabeth's birthday but did not bring her 1-month-old.
The next event we expect to see the youngest royal at is his christening. Royal reporter Carolyn Durand explained in Elle that the event would be planned around Queen Elizabeth's schedule.
Since the royal family takes a break at the end of July through late October, that would mean the christening would have to take place in early July. Otherwise, the couple will have to wait until fall to christen the baby.
William and Kate chose to christen Prince Louis, who was born in late April of last year, in July before the Queen left for Balmoral. Since Archie was born around the same time of year, Meghan and Harry might stick to the same idea.
Sources believe that Harry and Meghan will dress Archie in the royal family's current christening gown, which has been used by all the Queen's great-grandchildren. It is a replica of the original gown that was commissioned by Queen Victoria and used for 163 years and 62 royal babies.
Christenings are usually an intimate gathering. The immediate members of the royal family will likely all be in attendance, as well as whomever Harry and Meghan choose as godparents.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will likely be the one performing the baptism. Royal babies are christened using the Lily Font, first used for Princess Victoria's baptism in 1841. They are baptized with water from the Jordan River.
Harry and Meghan have been known to mix royal traditions with their own personal traditions. We're eager to see what kinds of twists they might put into this ceremonious occasion.
