Back in 1979 Shirley Bassey performed her classic hit song, "I Who Have Nothing" on a well-known variety show.
Over her incredible career, Bassey has performed at a countless number of live concerts, has received dozens of awards, and has released over 30 full length studio albums, and over 100 singles. Bassey's incredible drive and powerful singing abilities have made her a true living legend equal only to some of the greatest singers of all time.
With songs like the ultra-famous "Goldfinger" made famous from the 007 James Bond film, to "Diamonds are Forever," Bassey has really made her mark on America, a fact that is made even cooler when you realize that she's not even from America! Bassey is actually a Welsh born singer who combined the stirring sounds of early 60's pop music alongside the beautiful sounds of her European background.
The song, "I Who Have Nothing," received critical acclaim when she initially recorded and released it as a single 16 years previously. The song reached #6 on the billboard charts in the U.K., and she still performs this song at nearly every concert she takes a part in. The heartbreaking song is performed from the point of view of a lowly and destitute woman who has nothing to give to the man of her dreams save for her undying love.
