Meghan Markle has taken a break from her life as a new mom to show her friend some support! The Duchess of Sussex is still on maternity leave as she and Prince Harry settle into life with their adorable son, Archie.
Meghan and Harry welcomed the lovely little boy into the world on May 6, 2019. Since then, Meghan's public appearances have been scarce. There were buzzings that Meghan would attend Wimbledon to support her dear friend Serena Williams, as she did last year. Meghan showed up to do just that on July 4.
Meghan didn't fly solo for the occasion, either. Last year, she cheered Serena on with sister-in-law Kate Middleton at her side. Kate took in Serena's first game earlier this week. This time, Meghan showed up with friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis. The sight of so many of Meghan's close friends in London is causing rumors to reach a fever pitch as to whom the Sussexes have chosen to be Archie's godparents.
Meghan Markle has been understandably taking it easy while on maternity leave. The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to baby Archie just seven weeks ago. She hasn't made her plans to return to royal duties known just yet.
Since being on maternity leave, Meghan has made only a handful of public appearances. The first was when introducing Archie to the world at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle just two days after giving birth.
She made another appearance at Trooping the Colour to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's official birthday. The appearance shocked both fans and critics, who expected her to sit the event out this year. She smiled alongside Harry, Kate Middleton, and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Last week, Meghan surprised fans again when she and Harry attended the London Series MLB game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The series was in support of the Invictus Games, a charity that Harry cofounded and serves as royal patron for.
Her appearance at the event had many wondering whether or not Meghan would step out to take in some tennis at Wimbledon. While at least a few members of the royal family usually attend, Meghan has a closer connection to the action.
Meghan's dear friend, Serena Williams, is competing at Wimbledon again as she pursues her 24th Grand Slam title. The two have been friends ever since they met at a Super Bowl party in 2010. Serena even cohosted Meghan's NYC baby shower this past February.
Last year, Meghan showed up in support of her bestie with sister-in-law Kate. It was the first outing where the ladies were seen bonding without their husbands by their sides. Interestingly, the appearance came during Kate's maternity leave following the birth of Prince Louis.
This year, it's Meghan whose appearance came amid a maternity leave. This time, she had friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis by her side as they cheered on Serena in what seemed to be a sweet girls' outing.
Meghan looked lovely in a casual outfit. She wore her favorite Outland Denim jeans in the Harriet cut, a black shirt, the Brea blazer by L’Agence, and a summery fedora-style hat. She looked every bit the effortless "it" girl.
There was another detail in Meghan's outfit that was seriously heartwarming. Eagle-eyed fans noticed Meghan wearing a delicate initial necklace with the letter "A," presumably for baby Archie. The super-sweet detail shows that the new mom carries her baby close even when she's not with him.
Serena recently talked about her friendship with Meghan in an interview with BBC Breakfast. Serena was asked what, if any, advice she has passed along to Meghan about motherhood. Serena has a nearly 2-year-old daughter, Olympia.
Serena revealed that she had not given Meghan any advice about parenting yet, because the first few months are so hard to get through as it stands. She does look forward to talking about being a mom with her dear friend once she's more settled into it.
Fans of the royal family can't help but realize the curious timing of Meghan's close friends being in London. Earlier this week, it was announced that Harry and Meghan will have Archie's christening this weekend.
It seems like the little guy will have a lot of love heading his way for the special occasion. There's a lot of speculation about which friends will serve as godparents, but regardless of the choices, Harry and Meghan's little guy will always be loved by the masses.
