A young girl from Auburn, MA is being hailed as a hero this week thanks to her quick thinking and resourceful action.
The girl, 12, who is not being named because she is a minor, spotted a mysterious man skulking around the edges of her house while she was home alone. Before long, she realized that he was trying to pry open the door.
What she did next is incredibly brave. In fact, she kind of reminds me of this young lady fighting off a would-be attacker in the subway.
Instead of standing idly by, or panicking when she realized that she was in the middle of a burglary attempt, the preteen kept calm and gathered information.
First, she managed to grab a close-up photo of the criminal’s face through the door, capturing his identity on camera. It’s not clear whether he noticed her taking the picture, but please note that this is not the safest course of action if you find yourself the victim of an attempted robbery!
In this case, however, she managed to snap the photo and retreat to an upstairs closet. From there, she was able to capture images of the man outside of her window, wandering around the periphery of the house and testing the doors of neighboring homes.
