Breakfast lovers, rejoice. McDonald's has heard your collective prayers and has answered them with fantastic news: beginning October 6, 2015, you will be able to order from the chain's breakfast menu all day, any day.
Those golden hashbrowns are yours for the taking.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, McDonald's USA President Mike Andres said that the decision to roll out anytime breakfast could be the company's biggest change since it added its McCafe line of coffee to its menu back in 2009.
“This is the consumers’ idea. This is what they want us to do,” Andres said. “That’s why I think this could be the catalyst for our turnaround.”
So now you won't ever have to rely on the LittleThings staff to hack the best McDonald's recipes any longer. Those Egg McMuffins and hashbrown patties can be yours after 10:30 a.m. (much to the satisfaction of your midday cravings).
In honor of this this news, we thought we'd share with you one of the first McDonald's commercials in which the patties made their debut. In this 1978 clip from the Museum of Classic Chicago Television, behold the wonder of the novelty of an egg-shaped hash brown, now one of the franchise's most popular items.
