An unexpected interaction between a police officer and a former convict is touching hearts around the nation.
Eight years ago, Officer Sal Chapa from the Texas City Police Department arrested a man named Doc Amey on a gun charge. Amey was expected to spend five years in prison. During his sentence, however, he turned to God and adopted a new outlook on life. Amey's sentence was reportedly shortened.
Officer Chapa and Amey happened to bump into each other again at a local neighborhood barbecue. This time, they took the time to pray together. The moment was photographed and shared on Facebook by a bystander, just like the woman who snapped a photo of a police officer tying a young boy's shoe in a Texas restaurant. It's now going viral.
"We should be seeing more of this in America. There shouldn't be race involved and this is living proof that color doesn't matter. This is a prime example. All lives matter ONE NATION UNDER GOD! prayers to your brother and I pray for you. Continue of your path brother thank you for saying a prayer for my brother," Kevin Woods wrote in the caption.
Amey, who was tagged in the Facebook post, commented and said that Chapa changed his life around. Chapa also chimed in saying, "God willing this pic will change the way certain people think about all of us police officers. God bless everyone."
