These Vintage Halloween Songs Will Give You Some Spooky Nostalgia

Fall is sneaking right up on us, and that means that the holidays (I know, I know) are just around the corner. And if there's one holiday that gets its fair share of commercial playtime during the flurry of late-year celebrations, it's Halloween.

Amid the television reruns of spooky cinematic classics a la John Carpenter (whose following is so loyal, his cult classic spurred a recent Halloween-themed proposal), the late Wes Craven, and other merry masters of terror, there'll surely be more than enough of horror.

But how about a little jazz age Halloween nostalgia? After all, the tricks have come a long way in recent years, and it's nice to reflect on the easy kicks of a simpler time via hits like "The Boogie Woogieman" by The Brian Sisters, "The Haunted House" by New Mayfair Dance Orchestra, or one of my personal favorites, "Mad Witch" by Dave Gardner.

And no list of nostalgic, Halloween-themed list would be complete without adding the indelible Nina Simone and her iconic rendition of "I Put A Spell On You."

And hey, let's face it. Some of the best horror flicks are the oldies. (The old footage of Frankenstein in this montage definitely gave me the willies.)
