It was an ordinary day at the Bear Exploration Center for Math, Science, and Technology in Montgomery, AL. Little did one birthday girl know, her life was about to completely change.
Dad just returned home from war, and has decided to surprise Kyra on her birthday. He has a hard time holding back the tears as he stands outside the lunchroom, praying and looking proudly through the window. Inside, Kyra is eating with her friends — and has no idea her dad is about to walk into the cafeteria with a bouquet of flowers and a sweet serenade.
Not only is this man an American hero, but he's also a beautiful singer! His daughter sits in awe as Dad sings her the Happy Birthday Song, surrounded by all the students and teachers, who couldn't be happier for the birthday girl. The way she looks up at him as he sings to her is absolutely breathtaking! But that's not the only surprise this soldier has in store for Kyra. Wait until you hear the poem he wrote and reads aloud as Kyra wraps her arms around him. "I missed you so much while I was away, traveling many miles to personally say, that I love you dearly, you're in my heart, and no distance can ever keep us apart."
