Anyone who’s a parent, has ever been a victim of bullying, or has bullied must watch “Love Is All You Need.”
Kim Rocco Shields, who wrote and directed the award-winning film, is one of Hollywood’s hottest young film directors. Her film shows the evils of bullying from unique perspective. It’s a world in which gay is the accepted norm and heterosexuality is the scorned minority. Watch as a young teen girl, Ashley, wrestles with her heterosexual feelings for a boy as the adults around say that heterosexuality is sinful, perverted and sickening. Her teacher tells her that her feelings are merely a phase and all she needs is a girlfriend to grow out of it.
When Ashley is caught kissing a boy her classmates beat her as they derogatorily call her breeder and say, “Do us all a favor and kill yourself.” When the bullying goes viral, the film takes a devastating turn as cyber bullying often does in real life.
The film, which has garnered over 30 million views and sparked a heated and constructive nationwide debate about bullying, is being developed into a feature.
