What Does Your Thanksgiving Plate Say About You?

Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite holidays of the year. And while giving thanks and being around loved ones is great, we all know the real reason Thanksgiving is the best: the food.

And while I, of course, plan to fill my plate with turkey and all the rest of it, I never realized that what I was putting on my plate might actually be quite revealing…

Just like the way our eating habits can reveal truths about our personalities, the way we make our Thanksgiving plate can speak volumes about who we are!

Some of my family will only go for the healthy options. Others might try a little bit of everything. Others still might only eat a giant plate of mashed potatoes.

Each distinct approach to the Thanksgiving feast can be extremely telling. And when I saw what my plate said about me, I was shocked by how spot-on it was.

Scroll through this exclusive list below to see what your Turkey Day plate says about you.

As a lover of all things gravy, you slather your Thanksgiving plate with as much gravy as possible.

Your gravy-covered plate reveals that you don't mind getting a little bit messy. At home, you aren't too concerned about keeping things neat and tidy. And in relationships, you prefer things to be exciting and explosive over boring and predictable.

Your laid-back nature and your lack of structure make you the object of envy for quite a few of your loved ones.

2. The Pile On

You definitely do not want to miss a single thing this Thanksgiving, so you are going to be sure to pile your plate as high as it will possibly go.

As someone who takes a heaping helping, you can often be classified as a classic overachiever. You set lofty goals in life and at work. But as someone with a fierce determination, you often don't give up until you reach these high goals.

You have a tenacity and drive that is sure to take you far in life.

3. The Turkey Lover

You might take a little bit of broccoli or a little bit of mashed potatoes, but you certainly take a whole lot of turkey.

Your love of all things turkey reveals that you are a powerhouse of a personality. You aren't necessarily the loudest in the room, but you have an aggressive approach to life that has gotten you quite far. You know what you want, and others know better than to stand in your way.

Your power and self-assuredness are key elements in helping you to get what you want in life.

4. The Healthy Plate

Forget the fattening foods. Your plate is one that is all about the vegetables.

As a health-conscious person, you are someone with a keen self-awareness. You are constantly looking out for how your behavior will affect others and how it will affect your long-term well-being.

As someone who cares about others, you are able to forge strong relationships that can withstand the test of time.

5. The Isolationist

As the Isolationist, you are someone who does not want any of your food to touch on your plate.

This methodical approach to plating your food also applies to your life. You are a detail-oriented person who always has a plan. You enjoy making lists and checking things off of them. You can sometimes be too focused on the small stuff, so that you miss the larger picture.

However, others admire your ability to notice every nuance in a conversation or a relationship.

6. The Colorless Plate

As a fan of skinless turkey, mashed potatoes, and biscuits, your Thanksgiving plate is completely devoid of color.

Though your food might be colorless, that doesn't mean your personality is. You just have simpler tastes and don't require things that are lavish or extravagant. You are much more comfortable in casual clothes and casual situations. Your idea of dressing up might just involve putting on your "nice T-shirt."

Fortunately, your simpler approach to life helps you to keep things completely and utterly drama-free.

7. The Potato Pile

Boy, oh, boy. You sure do love your potatoes. In fact, your Thanksgiving plate is just one giant mound of mashed potatoes.

Not to worry. This unique plate simply means that you are a person who knows what they want in life. You might have one-of-a-kind tastes, but you never let other people's opinions stand in your way. You are a free-thinker who possesses a quiet confidence.

While some may give you strange looks for your food choices, you secretly enjoy approaching life from a different angle than everyone else.

8. The Thanksgiving Sandwich

Forget a big, complicated Thanksgiving dinner plate. You would much prefer a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce.

Your affinity for a sandwich over a more traditional meal reveals your cool and forward-thinking personality. You tend to be a trendsetter among your friends, and you shouldn't be surprised if others start asking for sandwiches themselves. People look to you for advice and for a sense of what the next big thing will be in fashion or in pop culture.

Your cool, collected personality makes you a joy to be around.

9. The Dessert Plate

Did you completely skip the main meal and head straight for the dessert table?

Your affinity for all things dessert shows that you truly are still a kid at heart. You have a young, vibrant soul, with an energetic personality. You always bring a fresh perspective to any situation, and your youthful approach to problem-solving can be a breath of fresh air.

With so much passion and energy in your heart, you are bound to make great strides at work and in your relationships.

10. The Nontraditional Thanksgiving

If you don't eat any of the regular food on the Thanksgiving table and instead opt for a completely different kind of dish, you certainly are a nontraditionalist.

This outside-the-box thinking is intentional with you. You enjoy being an outsider and thrive on not being "part of the group." Your outsider status may take many different forms. Perhaps you go for the James Dean "bad boy" take. Or maybe you just prefer spending time alone.

But your nontraditional thinking is what makes you special, and you certainly should embrace it.

11. The Sampler

And then, of course, there is the sampler plate, which has only a little bit of everything.

While this might seem like a more traditional plate, you actually just prefer sampling everything. In life, as with your food, you enjoy dabbling in many different areas. At work, you get antsy quite quickly if you are having to repeat the same task over and over again. And in relationships, you enjoy playing the field.

Your willingness to try a little of this and a little of that shows just how open-minded of an individual you truly are.
