Mom Finds Out Disabled Employee Wrote On Her Cake, Then Shares The Photo On Facebook

A simple picture of a birthday cake is bringing warm feelings to hearts all over the world for the most perfect reason imaginable.

Michigan woman Lisa Aldrich bought a birthday cake at her local grocery store; apparently she asked one of the employees to decorate the cake for a birthday celebration. The employee obliged, and when Lisa was handed back the decorated cake, she wasn't sure what to make of it.

Upon first glance, the cake design is not exactly what most people would call the best in the world. The letters are a bit scrunched together and there's a large empty space to the right, but realizing that it was just a cake, Lisa laughed it off and took it to the front to pay for it.

As she began to pay for it, the employees offered to get her a new cake, but Lisa kept insisting she was happy with the cake. That's when they revealed who made it for her.

When she saw a local advertisement for birthday cakes, she remembered she had to get a cake finished for an upcoming party!

Lisa walked straight to the bakery section and told the employee she needed a birthday cake.

The result was not what the advertisements had shown, but Lisa didn’t mind. “I nervously laughed and headed to check out — it didn’t really matter to me that it looked so bad — I thought people would think it was funny. The cashiers at the self checkout didn’t think it was so funny, though, and called a few more cashiers and a manager over to look, even taking pictures.”

"To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said, 'The girl who wrote that has autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her — even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.'" And it turns out, the cake was just as delicious as any other cake!

In just a few days, her post has been shared over 90,000 times, and Lisa knows why: "I am totally overwhelmed by God's goodness, and how he has used this cake story! I am sitting here weeping and reading through 100+ messages from people all over the country who have a loved one with Autism, thanking me. I just feel the need to say again — I didn't do anything special. Be nice. That is all. I can't believe how awesome God is that he is using this story to bless so many people! God is so, so good."
