Woman Continues Her Mother’s Mission To Find Owners Of Mystery Photos

Debra Romano is on a mission to continue her mother's work. It's a small gesture, but it could mean the world to some: finding the owners of forgotten developed decades-old photos.

Her now-deceased mother used to work at a Staten Island photo-development booth that shut down in the 1980s. But while she was there, she saved the photo packages unclaimed by their owners. She spent years searching for the people who had forgotten about their photos until her death this past fall. Debra is now in possession of over 50 packages, continuing her mother's will to find their owners.

As she browses the photos, she says, "There are definitely frozen moments of significance." She was particularly struck by a wedding photo in which a beaming bride and grinning mustached man sit in a car, filed under the last name "Bracco."

With some research, she found a couple, Frank and Joanne Bracco, still living on Staten Island. So she traveled to their home, and rang their doorbell.

Needless to say, the couple was shocked by a stranger coming to their door, claiming to possess their pictures. But looking at the photographs brought back memories. Frank  who is still mustached  even posed next to his wedding picture! Debra managed to reunite them with their lost belongings

The couple thanked her, and now, Debra will move on to trying to find the rest of the families who may have forgotten about their developed pictures.
