Guerlain Chicherit Attempts To Beat The 2011 World Record For Longest Ramp Car Jump

In 2011, Hot Wheels set a thrilling world record: the longest car jump, measuring 332 feet long. Driver Tanner Foust was the big winner at the Indy 500 event, taking on the dangerous challenge and succeeding. To this day, he holds that record.

However, this didn't stop French rally driver Guerlain Chicherit from attempting the ramp jump in 2014. The effort was recorded by GoPro, and the footage is extraordinary.

Guerlain speeds toward the launch ramp, needing to reach 160 kilometers per hour to successfully reach the other side. While the previous world record for this jump is 332 feet, he's attempting to travel 360 feet across to set a new record.

The footage shows the jump at all angles: in the car as the driver, facing the car, facing the driver, from the side… There's even slow-motion footage of the car traveling through the air, heightening our anticipation of the moment he will touch down on the landing ramp.

Just when it looks like Guerlain is going to successfully land, his expression, captured on the GoPro camera, says it all: he knows that this attempt will end badly.

In fact, Guerlain says that he called his wife the morning of the jump, telling her that he had a "bad feeling" about it.

Sure enough, his car makes a spectacular crash landing, flipping over several times before coming to a halt.

Luckily, he survived the crash with only a few minor injuries.

Check out the exhilarating footage of this incredible world record attempt.
