It may have taken several months to catch this adorable black lab, but a community can finally rest easy because she's now in good hands!
Part of the community of Bossier City, Louisiana, tracked the lab they named "Harley" for months. She was abandoned by her owners near the Harley-Davidson dealership, and had since been roaming the streets, all alone. They even set up a Facebook page for anyone with information on where Harley was last seen.
Since October, she was seen multiple times, crossing roads and roaming neighborhoods. That was until she wandered into an open garage, and the house's resident was able to quickly close the door to capture her.
Harley has a foster parent, Carla Dollar, while waiting to be adopted into a forever home. Carla tears up at the thought of what Harley had to go through on the streets, insisting that "no animal should have to be so scared."
Now, animal activists want to warn Bossier City residents and many others about the dangers of simply abandoning a pet. If a family can no longer take care of a pet, they're urging those families to take them to shelters where they can be fed and taken care of.
In the meantime, the nonprofit Rockers Rescue is taking care of the sweet black lab, and is accepting applications for her adoption!
