Parkinson’s disease is one of those horrible afflictions that just makes life seem so unfair. Scientists and doctors are still doing their very best to combat this heartbreaking disease, but it takes a lot of time and research to make tiny discoveries.
As the years have rolled by, researchers have done their best and have achieved some important “little victories,” but the disease still takes a heavy toll on millions of people worldwide.
But sometimes some of the biggest leaps in medicine have been purely accidental in nature. When a doctor was biking with a friend who suffered from the heavy affliction, he noticed that his friend’s shaky hands were much easier to control after several miles of rigorous biking.
After further review, this doctor began to realize that physical activity seemed to release a chemical that calmed the shakiness down to a significant degree. People of all ages were being tested with this new technique, and many of them felt better for weeks after a healthy bike ride.
And while the man in this video can barely walk on his own, when they put him on a bike, he pedaled with such skill that you’d never guess he had this awful disease. It really proves that you never forget how to ride a bike no matter what!
While this new technique certainly requires more study, we should all rejoice in the knowledge that so many people are being soothed with the simple act of riding a bike. Just like the Parkinson’s sufferers who dance as often as they can, this disease will be beaten down with the right attitude and a passion to get better.
Please SHARE this amazing story if you can’t wait until this disease is a thing of the past!
