Nowadays, it's unfortunately not uncommon to hear of a child being bullied for their appearance. Young kids are bullied every day, amounting up to 13 million kids every year. Sometimes, these brave kids are able to stand up for themselves, like this teen performer. Other times, these children suffer silently. When they do, their parents step up to help them and tell them how beautiful they really are.
A year ago, a little girl named Lexie came forward and reached out to the campaign The Bully Project. The problem? Lexie was being bullied and teased in school, all because she wears glasses.
Millions of people all over the world wear glasses, but the kids at school were calling her names like "googly-eyes." Lexie turned to her mom for help.
Lexie's mom wanted to find a way to make her daughter feel beautiful. So she took to Facebook, publicly asking for kind words of support. All she posted was a picture of her daughter holding up a sign, and a message that read "share if you're against bullying!"
The post went viral, and was shared over three million times. Mom and daughter opened up messages from strangers offering their support and sending them pictures of them with glasses. Lexie is enthralled by the number of people behind her, surprised to see even members of the Army supporting her!
We love what this mom was able to do for her daughter. Lexie is beautiful — with or without glasses!
