Do you ever get bored of the same old nail polish routine? Just painting on a color and calling it a day can be very elegant and versatile, but what if you're looking for something a little more daring or eye-catching? You can always go for a bright, neon color — but if even that isn't enough for you, try thinking a little outside of the box, or, in this case, outside of the second dimension.
Textured nails are an awesome option for changing things up, and you definitely don't have to be a pro, either. All you need is a few extra supplies here and there, like a toothpick or dotting tool and a little extra topcoat, and you're ready to go! But if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there are also plenty of options for you, too.
Once you see these awesome designs, you're never going to want to go back to regular old polish again!
1. Start off easy with quilted nails.
Using just a toothpick on wet nail polish, you can get this quilted effect.
2. Or take the quilted look one step further with some fancy detailing!
Paint your base color first, then add the diamond shapes on top. Add some small micro beads for flair if you want!
3. Apply some lace for a classy look.
Yep, real lace… learn how to master the look here!
4. Want your mani to match your leather jacket?
Just use a dotting tool to press into semi-set layers of matte polish.
5. Create this tropical, sandy texture.
Some polishes are made specifically for this texture, but you can also create it on your own with embossing powder.
6. If you're feeling bold, try these velvet nails.
I guarantee you'll get compliments on these… and they're not that hard to create, either!
7. Use real feathers to give some subtle texture.
It's a lot easier than you think!
8. Exude elegance with caviar nails.
You can find beads specifically for this purpose, but any crafting micro bead will do! Just add to a wet base color, gently press down, and choose whether or not to apply a topcoat!

15. Try this 3D stained-glass look.
Using diamond-shaped glitters, create geometric patterns. These will give an incredible 3D illusion.
16. Sweater nails are great for keeping cozy.
Using a very thin brush, paint on some fun sweater designs.
