It used to be just about every woman I knew had a Liberty print blouse or two tucked away in her closet.
It was just one of those things that lots of ladies considered indispensable to a basic wardrobe, along with other classic pieces like a perfect pencil skirt, and a flattering fit-and-flare dress like one of these cheerful numbers!
Of course, they’ve gone out of vogue as sewing skills have gone out of fashion. The blouses are a bit pricey when you buy them ready-made, so everyone used to just buy the fabric by the yard and whip up a blouse on their own, using a pattern!
That’s why I’m starting to think we should get back to our DIY roots and start buying these beautiful fabrics in bulk again! After all, Liberty is making more and more stunning prints every year, in pretty cotton lawn.
A crafter armed with an old Singer could turn any one of these into a whole bunch of cute tops, pretty girl’s dresses, or even pillow cases. Check out a few of our favorites below!
