Mariah Carey Upgrades ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Video And Her Twins Make Appearance

If you're like most people who celebrate Christmas, then you've likely listened to the classic Mariah Carey hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You" about 100 times already — and that's just today. The song debuted in 1994 and was an instant hit. It's been one of those Christmas songs that has really held its own over the years, too. When it was featured in the film, Love Actually, it got even more popular.

While we really can't get enough of it, whether we're singing it in the car, on the street in a little low-key holiday carol singing, or belting it out at a bar after a few too many eggnogs, we're definitely singing it this time of year. But now we have yet another reason to sing about the one thing we need for Christmas, because Mariah just released a new music video for the Christmas classic.

The singer released the video on Thursday, but it was already a big week for the song. The holiday hit  climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time ever — 25 years after it first came out.

The new video excited fans last week as soon as Mariah released it. It definitely came at the perfect time, when fans are feeling the Christmas spirit. Plus, with the song hitting number one it was already on everyone's minds anyway. It's hard to believe it's 25 years old, but it was totally due for an update!

The song might be ringing in everyone's ears already, but now the new video, which stars 7-year-old Mixed-ish actor Mykal-Michelle Harris, will be lighting up our eyes, too. Mariah looks festive, as always, in a Santa suit and Nutcracker costume. She's in snowy winter weather, obviously, just like in the original video. She's basically the queen of Christmas at this point.

Mariah clearly loves the song dearly, too. She's been posting throwback videos of different performances over the years, as well as reminding fans that it's been around for 25 years. And no one can really get enough — the radio keeps playing it, and we keep singing along. It's amazing that after 25 years it's somehow even more popular than ever. Mariah totally wanted to remind everyone that you can purchase the deluxe anniversary addition of her Christmas album.

But then came the big Instagram moment. Mariah released the brand-new video on Saturday. She wrote, “Hope you like my new video for 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,'” along with the post. “We had so much fun making it.” It definitely looks like fun!

Carey’s 8-year-old twins with actor Nick Cannon, Moroccan and Monroe, are also featured in the video. We don't get to see Mariah's kids all that often, so it was a big moment for fan! The kids appear in the video breaking out their own fun dance moves. It was likely extra special for the Christmas queen that she got to have her kids take part in something so close to her heart.

Obviously fans were excited about the release of the new video. But the excitement has been building, because earlier this month, Mariah also released a mini-documentary on Amazon about the history of “All I Want for Christmas Is You." It's pretty rare that one song can capture our hearts and ears the way that this one has. Clearly, there's something really special about it.

Mariah was also on The Late Late Show with James Corden last week. She didn't just perform once, though. She did a three-night stint, performing all her classic Christmas numbers like "Oh Santa" and "Christmas Time Is in the Air Again." Of course the final performance was "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

Not too many people seem to love Christmas as much at Mariah Carey. The iconic star just seems to look the part in her fancy Christmas outfits. Her beautiful voice gets everyone excited for the holidays. Year after year, we look forward to hearing her sing all of our favorite Christmas tunes.

Chances are, the holidays mean even more to Mariah now that she has two beautiful kids to celebrate with. They also teach her a few things — about herself that is! Her kids showed Mariah that when you ask Alexa to play "the queen of Christmas," it plays her hit song. Mariah was pretty excited about it and shared it in a video post on Instagram. How sweet!

Mariah is definitely grateful for just how much everyone loves her song. And we're grateful to have it. Honestly, it just doesn't feel like the holiday season without "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Here's hoping the song lasts another 25 years. We're guessing this one will remain a classic forever.
