Dad Builds A Backyard Rollercoaster For His Kids… And It’s Awesome

Most children just play soccer or tag in their backyards when they're growing up. If you're lucky, you have a hill to sled down in the winter or a pond to swim in during the summer. But this dad makes all of that seem like pennies compared to what he does with his backyard.

Visiting amusement parks and riding all the rides is always such a thrill. I remember one family vacation where my mother, who's terrified of heights, finally agreed to ride a rollercoaster with me after an entire day of going back and forth. We loved it so much that we got right back in line to ride it again. Riding rollercoasters usually isn't an everyday activity… unless you live in this neighborhood.

Will Pemble, a consultant, is on the way to starting a whole new career building rollercoasters in backyards across America. How did this happen? With a curious question from his son. After a day at the amusement park, his son Lyle asked him why they didn't have their own rollercoaster in their yard. Pemble couldn't think of a valid reason to say no, and with that, they were off to the lumber yard for materials.

Building these rollercoasters with his own family, as well as other families, gives everyone involved the opportunity to learn all about the physics involved in rollercoasters. Everyone also gets to enjoy some good old fashioned family fun, too!
