Teachers have to put a lot of heart into their profession. They can't simply clock in and out without a care when it comes to helping shape the minds of future generations. They have to not only provide them with valuable information, but connect with their students on a level that will make them excited to learn rather than dragging their heels to class every day. Inspiring an excitement for education means letting lose and having fun every now and then!
But for this dedicated teacher, it was his students who turned the tables and inspired him with their kindness. Mr. Simpler hadn't celebrated his birthday since he was in elementary school. For whatever reason, there were never any cakes, parties, or presents when his big day rolled around each year. As someone who takes birthdays very seriously, I can't think of anything sadder than watching the day go by without even a sweet message or two to read on my Facebook feed.
His students went way beyond the gesture of a small social media shout-out when the day arrived this year. Arriving early and patiently waiting for him to join them, these sneaky students provided the instructor with his very own mini shindig. They brought in balloons, presents, and perhaps most importantly, cake. As soon as he walks into the room, they burst into song, and he is clearly overwhelmed by emotions. He's so stunned by their care that he can hardly choke out a soft "thank you" when they finish the tune.
