Krickitt and Kim met in 1992, fell in love, and got married the following year. Less than ten weeks after their wedding, however, the newly married couple was critically injured in a horrific car accident. While Kim recovered, Krickitt's condition was so serious that doctors didn't think she'd make it. She remained in a coma for three weeks.
Doctors woke Krickett 21 days later, but her brain damage caused amnesia that left her with no memory of the 18 months prior to the accident. Krickitt had to relearn everything, from how to walk and talk to how to go to the bathroom.
Krickett also had no memory of her husband, and didn't even know she was married. "I was told, 'This is my husband, Kim,' so I kinda just started to go on with that," she told Oprah Winfrey in 1996.
That's right… in a matter of months, Krickett went from being fully in love with her new husband to being completely unaware of his existence and presence in her life.
Kim was determined to help Krickett remember him and their wonderful life together — but she was indifferent. In fact, she resented this pushy "stranger" and tried to curtail any and all of his attempts to remain in her life…
