Weather has a way of sneaking up on you in a peculiar way every now and then. Whether it's drying out your skin every winter or baffling you with its mysterious ways, you really never know what to expect when you look up at the sky. After growing up in Oklahoma, I'm no stranger to the weirder side of weather. Situated in the middle of "tornado alley," my family and I prefer to stand right outside and watch the beautiful chaos up close rather than rush for any basement or shelter.
Not that we have many of those to count on in our neck of the woods, anyway, thanks to some tricky soil making it pretty impossible to build underground. We're always cautious, of course, and never stay out if things look really scary. But some of my best memories are from sitting around and watching a storm brew in my backyard!
This guy from Queensland, Australia, does exactly the same thing when he sees the clouds acting odd in his area. However, he had the smart idea to actually grab a camera and capture the whole thing! The stunning result is a gorgeous timelapse filled with lighting strikes and vibrant colors that will keep you mesmerized 'til the very end. He does add a few special effects in the middle for fun, but the rest is just Mother Nature showing off her stuff.
Honestly, even though I know it's not from the same region, the footage totally makes me homesick! I'm totally bookmarking this to keep on hand for when I feel like I've been away from the Sooner state a bit too long.
