In the 1980s, the U.S. saw a real bacon boom, but not the kind you'd expect… From NYC townhouses to rural midwestern farms, everyone was buying pot-bellied pigs as pets.
However, years later the trend died down, as they always seem to do. Today, pigs are a much harder pet to place for adoption than say an adorable little puppy. Although pigs can make great companions, they are definitely a handful and many states have laws limiting pigs as pets.
Jannette Reever never got over the 80's piglet fad and has always wanted one of her own. She even bought a home with ample amount of space for a pig, but assumed her time had past. That was until she met Arnold, an linker at PIGS Animal Sanctuary in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, who had had five homes by the time he was 4 months old.
