Christy McGinity, Reality Star Of ‘Little Women: LA,’ Welcomes A Baby Girl 7 Weeks Early

Christy McGinity (previously Christy Gibel), the star of Little Women: LA, just welcomed another baby into her family. The father is her boyfriend, Gonzalo Justo Carazo. The couple welcomed daughter Violet Eva Carazo on Friday, March 6, at 33 weeks, her rep told People magazine. While of course it's always a happy time when a new baby arrives, for Christy and Gonzalo it's a bit of a scary time, too, because their new bundle of joy was born seven weeks premature.

She's a tiny little girl, as she arrived measuring 15 inches and weighing in at 3 lbs., 15 oz. The couple is asking for privacy amid the health concerns that could be affecting their new addition. “The family welcomes your thoughts and prayers, but requests privacy during this difficult time,” the rep said.

Moms with dwarfism can sometimes face additional challenges during pregnancy and delivery. Christy documented her pregnancy journey on Instagram. She had recently been hospitalized due to some complications and was hoping the baby would wait a little longer to join her family.

The couple shared tons of pictures on social media leading up to the baby's birth. Gonzo shared an ultrasound image just a few days before the little one arrived. “Experiencing this entire journey has taught me a lot about Life and has opened up my eyes on how magical this journey of becoming a first time parent really is ,” he wrote. “I can’t wait to meet our baby girl! #VioletEva#BabyC #1srTimeDad #DadToBe#InLove.”

Christy has been on Little Women: LA since 2014. She already has two other children, daughter Autumn and son Trenton, from a previous marriage that ended in the early 2000s. Christy has only been recently divorced from ex-husband Todd Gibel. Earlier this month, she decided to start going by Christy McGinity once again, rather than Christy Gibel.

Christy and Gonzo have known each other for some time. They announced they were expecting their new addition back in September. “I’m so excited that we are having a baby. What a big blessing. Good things come to those who wait,” Christy wrote on Instagram. “Our bundle of joy is coming April 2020,” she added.

Then, just before their daughter’s birth, Christy documented that she'd been having a rough time. “Dinner and dessert with this handsome man,” she wrote alongside a series of smiling photographs of the pair. “It’s been a rough few weeks and thank you for lifting up my spirits. #YouHaveMyHeart.”

She is not ready. Please pray that contractions stop

A post shared by Christy McGinity (@lilchristyrocks) on

Christy has been incredibly open about her pregnancy, even the tough parts. Back in February, she also posted a photograph of her belly, as she revealed she was having contractions and seemed very worried about an early delivery at that point. “She is not ready. Please pray that contractions stop,” she wrote.

Luckily, the baby held off a while longer but was still quite early, showing up seven weeks before her expected due date. It's definitely a situation that can create a lot of fear and anxiety. But it's wonderful that Christy is being open about her pregnancy journey, as well as sharing updates about how the new baby is doing.

Because the most common type of dwarfism affects only about 1 in 15,000 to 1 in 40,000 people, we don't hear much about what pregnancy and birth are like for mothers who have it. While there are bound to be some medical issues that come about, it's great that Christy is letting people see what different kinds of pregnancies look like. It also gives people with dwarfism a look at what to expect.

In another post, Christy was trying to stay positive and give herself a little R & R, but it was clear, things were definitely getting tough with her pregnancy. "Sometimes dipping your feet in the water and getting some sun is just what the doctor orders," she wrote. "Thank you everybody for all your thoughts and prayers. It means the world to us. This journey has been a blessing, scary, hard, and full of love."

Christy is well known as an actress and as a reality star. She was a dancer on Austin Powers in Goldmember, and she also took small roles on Little Black Book, Fat Actress, Ghost Whisperer, and Strangers in a Book. Still, she is best known for starring in Little Women: LA.

All parents of preemies know that it can be a rough road from birth onward. There can be complications with feeding and weight gain, as well as other challenges. We hope for an update on Christy's baby soon and will be wishing them all the best in the meantime. Hopefully, they'll be back at home soon cuddling their new addition.
