Here’s an incredible lesson on friendship to bring joy to your heart this holiday season.
When I heard what Dylan Siegel did for his best friend, I was in disbelief and then brought to tears. At only 8 years old, Dylan has managed to make over $1 million dollars. His cause? His best friend.
Since they met in pre-school, Dylan and Jonah Pournazarian have been inseparable. Jonah wasn’t like the other preschoolers. He suffers from glycogen storage disease or GSD, a rare and incurable liver disease that can make Jonah’s blood sugar drop to deadly levels.
To help his friend Dylan wrote a book simply titled “Chocolate Bars,” which compare friendship to something just as sweet. Charging $20 per book, people started to snatch them up right and level, eventually creating a best seller, gaining $1 million that he’s donated to finding a cure.
Jonah is one of only 500 children in the world with the disease, which causes him to need a mixture of water and cornstarch through a tube in his stomach multiple times a day. With this unbelievable act of kindness, there is hope that these best friends will have a lifetime together.
