Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi surprised everyone by getting married Friday morning. The pair had to delay their wedding numerous times, owing to both the health crisis sweeping the world and Prince Andrew's current legal entanglements. Now Buckingham Palace has shared a few photos from Princess Beatrice's wedding, and the photos are really, really cute.
The palace first announced the wedding with an official statement:
“The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11 a.m. on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. The small ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government Guidelines.”
We were left in the dark after that, as the Queen was due to knight 100-year-old Captain Tom Moore later that day. The popular belief is that the royals didn’t want Beatrice’s wedding to overshadow the knighting, so they waited until today to share the photos.
The royal family shared the news on Instagram:
"Congratulations to HRH Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi! The couple were married in a small private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor on Friday 17th July."
"Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi celebrated their wedding with their closest family. The happy couple are pictured with Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, both belonging to Her Majesty The Queen. The tiara was worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day in 1947."
So far, these are the only two photos that have been released. The photographer is Benjamin Wheeler, who is a wedding photographer based in London.
It's unknown what the next steps are for Beatrice and Edoardo. Some rumors have had the two moving to Italy, perhaps with Edoardo's young son.
