Rumor has it that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel welcomed a second son into their family over the weekend. The news is particularly surprising since neither had given any indication that Jessica was pregnant … and because Justin was embroiled in a bit of cheating scandal last November.
If you put two and two together, you'll realize that it's likely Jessica was already pregnant when Justin was photographed holding hands with costar Alisha Wainwright. While all parties were clear that Justin and Alisha didn't have a relationship, the photos were still pretty surprising to fans of Justin and Jessica.
It seems that the two have definitely patched things up, or are at least working toward it. The Daily Mail reported the birth of their second child over the weekend, indicating that Jessica likely gave birth sometime the week of July 13.
"The 38-year-old actress gave birth to a baby boy earlier this week and is currently holed up with the newborn, her singer husband Timberlake, 39, and eldest son Silas, five."
The publication also added a few more details about the family:
"Biel's mother Kimberly Conroe Biel, 65, has also spent much of the past week with her daughter and newest grandchild. At Kimberley's Salida, Colorado, home on Saturday, a friend revealed she plans to stay with Biel and Timberlake until Sunday and confirmed the sex of the new baby."
The publication also noted that photos of Jessica from the waist down haven't been shared since earlier this year:
"With the exception of that post, no photos showing Biel from the waist down have been released since her birthday in March, when she would have been around four months pregnant. Those pictures, which appear to have been taken at the couple's Los Angeles home, show Biel in her pajamas and shrouded in a loose robe while blowing out candles on a cake held by Timberlake."
Back in November, Justin addressed the rumors head-on surrounding the photographs of himself and Alisha. He released the following statement:
"I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it."
It's worth looking back on the scandal, though, in light of the birth of their second child. Jessica was probably around five weeks pregnant when the photos of Justin and Alisha started circulating. Knowing this definitely makes one reflect back on his statement, and also on previous allegations of cheating that have surrounded the couple in the past.
The pair first met in 2007 at a party, and Justin asked a mutual friend for Jessica's contact information. He has shared that he asked her out by phone call:
"I did it the old fashioned way – by telephone. … The way I see it, if you're asking a girl out on a date, it's only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice. I had to be pretty persistent in order to get her to say yes."
However, the two broke up in 2011, following rumors that Justin and his Friends With Benefits costar, Mila Kunis, were "inseparable" at an event.
Their representative at the time released a statement defending Justin against the allegations:
"Addressing the media speculation regarding Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake's relationship, we are confirming that they mutually have decided to part ways. The two remain friends and continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other."
Justin and Jessica were back together by December 2011, and they even got engaged that year. The pair got married on October 19, 2012. Their first son, Silas, was born three years later in 2015.
Since then, the two have generally kept Silas out of the spotlight. They have made waves over the years for their peculiar stance on childhood vaccinations, but generally they keep to themselves.
In 2018, Jessica shared a post on Instagram about what a "hot dad" Justin is to celebrate the singer's birthday:
"You're a super hot dad. A ninja dad. A kiddie teeth brushing, Jedi sleep mind tricking, intimidating dad voice disciplining SUPER HOT DAD. I love you, you hot dad."
Justin also reflected on what fatherhood has meant to him:
"The last 3 years of my life have brought more joy than I could ever imagine. Being a father is such a trip… an amazing discovery every day. My son: it is my honor to be your Daddy. You make me feel a love that I didn't know existed. I will ALWAYS be there… to pick you up when you fall, to lift you up when you are ready to soar, and to remind you that your humility will be your guide through this thing called life."
Justin was actually also accused of cheating on Jessica back in 2010, that time with actress Olivia Munn. A source said that Justin had been telling people they had broken up.
"[He] has been telling people it's over with Jessica, even though the reality is he's just doing it behind her back."
Justin's rep at the time denied the rumors.
