There are few things in your entire house that are more frustrating to clean than in and around your oven. Sure, there are plenty of ovens that have a self-cleaning feature, but that isn't a safe way to clean the oven racks inside, nor does it help at all with cleaning the always-grimy and greasy stove grates that sit atop your burners.
We recently shared a great video that shows you how to easily clean your oven racks by putting them in the bathtub, and we've also shared videos that explain how to use things like a baking soda paste (and even a lemon) to clean the top surface of your stove, but I don't believe I've ever seen a great tip for cleaning those stubborn stove grates.
Well, that's about to change right now with this video from DIY Super Mom! In the video, she explains how to use a few items that just about everyone has around the house to easily clean all the grease, grime, and food from your stove grates.
You can follow along with the video below, but it's so simple that you'll be doing this in no time.
Simply grab your stove grates from the top of your stove and slip them inside of a plastic Ziploc bag. Then take a spray bottle with ammonia in it and spray all over the grate that's inside the bag.
Quickly seal the bag tight and let the grate rest overnight. The next morning, all you have to do is open up the bag and simply use a sponge to wipe off all the caked-on food and dirt that's all over your oven grate.
That's it! This is a much easier way to clean those pesky grates and they should come out looking like new.
