Welcoming grandchildren into your life is a wonderful milestone. From meeting the newborn for the first time to catching them being silly and saying the darndest things, there are so many special moments to enjoy with your grandchildren as they grow up.
The bond between a grandparent and a grandchild can run much deeper, though. This touching short film, called Nan, depicts the beautiful relationship between a boy and his grandmother. The film starts as the grandmother takes care of her grandson and watches him grow up into an extraordinary man. She protects him and makes sure he's always happy as he grows, but as she begins to age and become frail, their roles reverse. Suddenly, the grandson becomes the caregiver, and he watches over Nan as her health begins to deteriorate.
Director Luke Taylor explains, "The piece looks at the things we learn from our elders that eventually are reversed and used to help them. Through this beautiful friendship, the film takes a true to life insight at how life begins and ends the same."
It's an emotional reminder about the importance of sharing love and life with the ones that mean the most to us. This short film is so moving, in fact, that it will probably bring you to tears.
