I recently came across the documentary Fed Up on Netflix, and now I'm terribly aware of the idea that sugar is the enemy — and is possibly more dangerous than fat!
I am fairly health conscious, but I do occasionally splurge from time to time. For example, sometimes, on a hot summer's day, I might drink a Coke. Not a Diet Coke, but a real Coke. None of that sugar-free nonsense. There's something about that real cola taste that transports me back to my suburban childhood. You know the feeling: Happy Meals, cupcakes, macaroni and cheese (before they extracted the delicious dye), and of course, Coca-Cola Classic!
Of course, if you've ever seen the man who drank 10 cokes a day for a month, you know that too much Coca-Cola can have some adverse effects.
Shockingly, there are about a zillion sweet treats that I should be sinking my teeth into before I start chugging full-calorie soda. Here's a comprehensive list of "bad for you" treats that contain less sugar than full-calorie cola. While we don't advocate ever eating unhealthily, this is (quite literally) food for thought!
