Many of us have dealt with the chaos that comes when a bird flies down the chimney into the fireplace. In fact, it seems like nothing brings out the strategic thinker in all of us like having to figure out how to convince a bird to fly out of the house, hopefully with as little poop as possible. One man realized he'd have to think quick when he learned that a pigeon had paid him a visit…but what happens after he lets the bird out of his fireplace has tears of laughter streaming down my face.
This guy was pretty lucky as far as unwanted bird situations go. Unlike this guy who had to involve an actual elevator and multiple flights of stairs to get a trapped bird out of his apartment building, the man in the video had a window conveniently close to where the pigeon was located. All he needed to do was free the bird from the fireplace, and he was good to go. But the way he reacts once the pigeon is flying free is absolutely hilarious. It's easy to make fun of him for running away screaming, but I know plenty of people (including myself) who react this way when a giant flying bug gets anywhere near them.
Just like this guy who saved a pigeon that was trapped by its beak, this man did a very kind thing for this bird despite his fear. And all he needed in his arsenal was a fireplace tool and a towel! He might have run screaming into a corner, but he definitely got the job done with ease. But it wasn't an entirely clean escape — according to the pigeon's terrified helper, the bird did let out a little poo in his haste to get out. I guess it's a small price to pay for not having a pigeon in your house anymore!
