Brave Mom Asks Daughter For A Funky Pink Hairdo Before Chemo Takes Her Hair

Cancer is definitely a serious situation, which requires a lot of time, effort, and invasive procedures to treat.

And though it can be tough to be optimistic in the face of serious illnesses, many brave patients have proven time and time again that positivity can blast through the pain.

People have put happy, wacky spins on their treatments in many different ways, some stage fun photoshoots, while others wear fun costumes while they undergo chemotherapy.

62-year-old Janet Sheppard Kelleher found a particularly pleasant way to put a positive spin on her returning cancer; she got her daughter to give her a totally outrageous haircut!

Before having it shaved off, she decided to have a little fun to lighten everyone's spirits, a habit that she displayed during her previous treatment as well.

And after sharing the photos online, she and her daughter received an incredible amount of praise and support — check them out below if you need a day-booster.

62-year-old Janet Sheppard Kelleher has an amazing outlook on life.

Despite the returning illness, she sustained an exciting and active life, filled with travel, zip lining, scuba diving, and even parasailing.

One of her particularly adventurous feats was asking her daughter Sarah to give her a wacky haircut before she lost her hair to chemotherapy.

She turned losing her hair into a celebration during her previous chemo treatment as well, by intricately braiding her hair, then cutting it off as mementos for loved ones.

So it made sense that she would enlist her daughter to make her hair wacky and wonderful before she shaved it off the second time around.

And she definitely didn't disappoint, with a bright pink dye job, cut into a magnificent mohawk.

"The mohawk was mom's idea. No convincing needed," Sarah explained to Bustle.

"She called me one morning and asked me to come over and she had the hair dye and clippers ready to go. I never cut hair before this."

After the amazing haircut was complete, Sarah posted the photos on Reddit and received an incredible amount of positive and encouraging responses.

"Mom said that she and my dad 'mixed a scoop of real coffee in with the decaf' and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reading all the comments on Reddit and Imgur," joked Sarah.
