Sure, celebrities have tried to let us all know that we're in this together. But some attempts just fell flat. Thankfully, the Full House gang managed to get it right. Not only did they think up the idea of a very funny parody, but they managed to make it relatable.
Full House initially started airing back in 1987. It was a family comedy that managed to last for eight seasons. Since it focused on a family run by a single dad, many of the story lines featured coming-of-age scenarios for the three children in the home — DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle Tanner. While their sequel series, Fuller House, gained success, its final season will air on Netflix this year. Luckily, as this video proves, the fictional Tanner family is still proud of their story. At least, most of them are.
The video focuses on most of the gang who made their way onto Fuller House. That means no Michelle. While twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen got their start on the series and built a career out of it, they've shown no interest in reprising the role. Luckily, the rest of the cast can joke about it. Off-screen, they're still very close.
Another family member who's missing? Lori Loughlin. Lori is in the midst of trying to clear her name on a college bribery scheme. While she appeared on Fuller House and stays in contact with the cast, they rightfully left her out of their video.
John Stamos, who plays Jesse, made the video available on his Instagram account. He also included a funny catchphrase in his caption, which is worth repeating. "Stayhome/Staysafe/Stamos," he said. "Unlike #FullHouse, this will all go away." It's good to know that they're all on the same page regarding the show.
While the show was popular, the cast knew it was a light comedy made for a young audience. In reality, Bob Saget is nothing like his character of Danny Tanner. However, during these times, he's admitted that he's turning more and more into Danny by the day.
While the video is missing Michelle, at least they got Andrea Barber on board to play Kimmy Gibbler. While Kimmy was never a full-on Tanner, she was definitely part of the family. And she's always been game about coming back. After Full House ended, Andrea didn't continue on with her acting career until Fuller House was in production.
Even though they made some catty remarks about Michelle's absence on Fuller House, the cast still seems to be fond of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. "People should do what they want with their lives, and when they’re nine months old and they get a job, [they have a right to stop doing it]," Bob Saget said to Entertainment Tonight. "I love them very, very much, Ashley and Mary-Kate, and they love what they do and acting is not what they want to do. People should do what they want to do."
Dave Coulier, who plays Joey, admitted he was a little disappointed that the Olsen twins didn't join the rest of the family for the reboot. But he explained that he understands how they're not as nostalgic about the show as the rest of the cast. Much like Bob, he credits their age.
"They're family members," Dave told People magazine. "But I think they have a different perspective. When we get together and we reminisce, they were babies [at the time]. So they don't share those same memories. I can't really speak for them but I would understand why they don't have the same sentiments that we all do."
The cast has also spoken up about Lori Loughlin. John Stamos was one of the closest to her, as the two shared plenty of scenes together. While happily married today, John once labeled Lori as "the one that got away." It would be so interesting to see if they would have lasted as a couple had things been a little different.
"I'll tell you one thing that has been strange is: Honestly I can't figure it out," he said to GQ. "It doesn't make sense. I talked to her the morning everything hit. I just can't process it still." He also said that he was trying his hardest to refrain from talking about it until she had her trial.
"I gotta be careful," he admitted. "I want to wait until the trial happens, if it does, or whatever the result is, and then talk about it." No matter what, it seems like John is taking an adult approach to it. Even though nobody would have suspected Lori, she has a lot of evidence against her.
As for the cast in general, they were tight even before Fuller House was a reality. " I love this family so much," Jodie Sweetin shared on a flashback photo of the cast back in 2019. "Through all the decades we’ve been together, I’m so grateful to still have them in my life!!" Co-star Candace Cameron Bure has gone so far to say that she's best friends with the cast.
"Even when the show ends, we’re not leaving each other," she said, per Closer Weekly. "You know, we’re close friends — best friends — till the end." She then added that she talks to the Full House cast all the time. "Just like any friends, we talk all the time. It’s not just when we’re at work, but we show up for each other," she said.
"Whenever someone’s doing something or someone has an event going on in their life, we’re always on the phone; we’re always texting," she added. "We sit and have lunch together every day at work and we call it our group therapy because we just bounce everything off one another and talk about life. They’re the best."
You know they likely all have a group chat. If only their fans knew what they talked about on a daily basis. At the very least, they all collaborated for the parody video, showing that the stay-at-home orders aren't stopping them from finding ways to stay close and work together.
In times like these, it's really good to find reasons to smile. And Bob Saget and his "family" did just that. Even those who aren't fans of the show can get a laugh out of their parody. If the cast of Full House is willing to make a video, who knows if cast members of other shows might bond together for a fun online reunion?
