Jessa Duggar Speaks Out In Defense Of Jana’s Child Endangerment Charge: ‘Innocent Mistake’

Jana Duggar's sister Jessa has come out swinging in defense of the elder 19 Kids and Counting star, who was charged with child endangerment a day after their brother Josh Duggar was convicted in his child pornography trial.

While the full details surrounding Jana's case haven't been released, Jessa shed a little more light on what she believes led to the unexpected filing.

Jessa chose to post an Instagram Story to explain what happened to Jana. As she shared, "She was babysitting and one of the kids slipped out the door unnoticed, but it ended safely."

Jessa also shared that she's pretty mad all this attention is being heaped on Jana in the first place, insisting that the "media is sensationalizing this" because of "other family circumstances" — most likely her brother's recent conviction.

It's worth noting that child endangerment is a serious offense, regardless of what circumstances the accused is also facing. InTouch previously noted that Jana was charged with a third-degree misdemeanor. She was released on bail of $430.

Jessa implored everyone to back off her sister, writing: "She is without question one of the most amazing women I know, and I’d trust her with my kids any day of the week. Do me a favor — give the girl a break and all you perfect humans go back to living your lives."

Jana was arrested on September 10, 2021, and pleaded not guilty on September 23. She is due in court on January 10, 2022.

Additional Duggars who have spoken out in support of Jana include brothers James and Jason, as well as Jana's cousin, Amy.
