Josh Duggar was reportedly in "good spirits" at the Western District of Arkansas Federal Courthouse in Fayetteville before his sentencing. A federal judge sentenced the former 19 Kids and Counting star to 151 months in prison, between 12 and 13 years.
Father Jim Bob Duggar, wife Anna Duggar, and siblings Joy-Anna Duggar and Jason Duggar were in the courtroom when Josh's fate was announced by US District Judge Timothy L. Brooks. Josh Duggar was reportedly without reaction when the sentence was handed down, as were Jim Bob and Anna, per The U.S. Sun. Jason and Joy-Anna reportedly looked saddened by the decision.
If you suspect child abuse, you can call the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-422-4453 (1-800-4-A-Child) or go to Childhelp.org. The hotline is available 24/7.
The judge also recommended sex offender treatment for Josh Duggar. For that reason, the judge would prefer Duggar serve his sentence at Seagoville, Texas, which has a good sex offender treatment program. If there is not space for him there, he will serve his sentence at Texarkana, Arkansas.
The sentence is a middle ground between what prosecutors asked for and what Duggar's defense team fought for. Prosecutors argued for the maximum sentence of 20 years, while the defense argued for just five.
Duggar was found guilty of knowingly receiving and possessing child sexual abuse materials in December 2021. He faced up to 20 years of imprisonment and up to $250,000 in fines for each conviction.
