Tom Vitale Requests Spousal Support From Ex Valerie Bertinelli, Plans To Challenge Prenup

Valerie Bertinelli filed for a divorce from husband Tom Vitale in May after more than 10 years of marriage. Now the divorce proceedings are moving right along.

According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, which were obtained by People, Tom is asking to be awarded spousal support. He also plans to block Valerie from requesting spousal support, and he is challenging the validity of their prenuptial agreement.

Clearly, Tom means business.

In November 2021, Valerie filed for legal separation from her financial planner husband. She cited "irreconcilable differences." In May 2022, she filed for a divorce.

Valerie and Tom were married at their home in Malibu back in 2011. At the time, it seemed that the two were deeply in love. Valerie told People she was "happier than ever" after they wed.

"I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband.' I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love," she said.

Clearly, the two have fallen out of love. In May, Valerie shared a revealing post on Instagram, just after filing for divorce. She posted a poem titled I Don't Miss You.

"You were not the person I thought you were," it reads, in part. "I did not love you. I loved the person you pretended to be."
