Emily Boo is a "Gothic-obsessed" wife and mother from the UK. She is covered in piercings and tattoos — but recently decided to surprise her partner and 6-year-old daughter with a much more stripped-down, conventional look.
Emily got her first piercing at 11 years old, and she's been hooked ever since. She now has more than 150 modifications and never goes a day without wearing all-black clothing.
While her self-described "Goth weirdo" look used to garner so much negative attention and rude insults from strangers, Emily says she hasn't faced as much criticism in public since having her daughter.
It'd been so long since Emily had seen herself without body modifications, and she was pretty nervous about looking like what she deems a "normal, basic" girl. (For example, she hates jeans and cheery colors like pink or yellow … and that's exactly what the makeover had in store.)
"If she [Emily's daughter] says she likes it, I'll be very surprised … and I'll put her up for adoption," Emily joked.
