One Of Elon Musk’s Children Files To Change Their Name And Gender, Will Take Mom’s Name

Elon Musk's second child is making some major changes. The 18-year-old has filed a legal request to change both her name and her gender.

Court documents filed on behalf of Xavier Musk reveal the teen will be changing her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. Elon Musk was married to Vivian's mother, Justine Musk, from 2000 to 2008.

The official reason given for the change is twofold. The documents state, "Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

Justine has spoken out in support of her daughter, writing on Twitter that she's very proud of the step that Vivian is taking. She tweeted, "'I had a weird childhood,' my 18 year old said to me. 'I can't believe I'm as normal-seeming as I am.'"

Elon has been known for his seemingly anti-LGBTQ views. As the BBC notes, he's spoken out in support of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has pushed the "Don't Say Gay" bill in the state.

In 2020, Elon wrote on Twitter, "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare."
