Pete Buttigieg and husband Chasten are celebrating a major milestone. Their twins just turned 1!
Chasten posted some adorable snaps on Instagram of the couple's twins, Gus and Penelope, celebrating the super-special occasion. And there was definitely cake.
The pictures show the adorable little ones in their high chairs with cake-filled mouths. From the looks of it, the event was pure joy.
"Penelope’s and Gus’s 1st birthday party was a smashing success!" Chasten captioned the post. "We’re so thankful for all of the love and guidance we’ve received over the last year. Onwards to 2!"
The party definitely seemed like a smash, and the kids couldn't have looked cuter in their festive outfits. Gus wore a colorful shirt as he devoured his mini birthday cake. His sister, Penelope, wore a pink Hawaiian shirt as she feasted.
Pete and Chasten seem like they are really enjoying dad life. The couple married in 2018. Last August, they announced on Twitter they were going to be parents.
"For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family. We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents!" Pete tweeted. "The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon."
Chasten is big into sharing photos of his family. His Instagram is filled with sweet snaps of the kids. Pete has also been open about what being a dad is like. He told MSNBC's Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski that fatherhood is the “most demanding thing I think I’ve ever done.”
Still, he's absolutely grateful for it. “And yet, I catch myself grinning half the time,” he said. “It’s been wonderful. It’s everything people tell you to expect and more.”
