Oh, the internet. It's a place full of endless information, uplifting inspiration, and, well, absurd complaints. Don't get us wrong — social media is kind of built for airing frustrations. People do it all the time, and sometimes it leads to totally necessary and utterly worthwhile conversations! And then there are the times when it's better to just say nothing at all.
That's what one man found out after taking to social media to post a picture of his sad wife waiting for cheese in a restaurant. Jason Vicknair, a Texas husband, took to social media to vent about a restaurant's slow service. His wife wanted some shredded cheese for her fajitas and yet … no cheese was arriving at the table.
We've all been there — sometimes servers forget or get slammed. And, of course, some restaurants just don't have the best service. Either way, while Jason's complaint may have been totally valid, his post seemed to miss the mark.
Jason Vicknair posted a picture of his wife looking miserable while waiting for her cheese. You know the feeling. You're ready to eat, but you don't have everything you need. We've all been hangry before, so we totally get it. However, some people felt that posting about the incident was a bit dramatic.
The Twitter post has since been deleted. But people had already taken screenshots, and now it's been shared widely. In the post, Jason wrote, "My wife, date night after three+ months locked up on quarantine. Waiting for shredded cheese as it's the only way she can eat fajitas."
The only way she can eat fajitas? OK, that seems like a bit of a stretch. Actually, fajitas are meant to be eaten without cheese. But, of course, everyone has their preferences! We feel you, girl.
His post continued, "We've asked four people, going on 18 minutes now. We gotta quit blaming COVID-19 for crappy service." There's no doubt that slow service can be frustrating. However, unless something really awful happens in a restaurant, posting about it on Twitter feels melodramatic.
Commenters were quick to point out that the post was a little ridiculous. It seems like Jason was looking for sympathy in sharing the complaint. Instead, he got a harsh reality check! People had no time for this kind of complaining on Twitter. Many even felt like it was the epitome of "first world problems."
One commenter wrote, "i'm sorry the servers risking their lives to bring your wife some shredded cheese are taking too long, brad. maybe they're overwhelmed by having to bring people shredded cheese during a global pandemic that is killing more people than world war 1."
Another wrote, "she can't eat fajitas without cheese? like… physically?" LOL.
Unfortunately, especially for Jason's wife, she's now become the latest viral meme. Being known as the sad wife waiting for cheese is not really what anyone wants to be known for. But her face is … well, everywhere.
It's totally crazy how things take off on the internet! But it's also a good reminder that there are a lot of terrible issues going on in the world. Perhaps when it comes to minor complaints like having to wait longer than we'd like at a restaurant, we should just stay quiet. Right?
At least, that's how the general public felt about it. People totally seemed to get that it's annoying to wait for your food. It was the venting about it all over the internet, in hopes of sympathy, that was maybe … probably … in poor taste.
No word on if Jason's wife ever got her cheese. But chances are, they won't be dining at that particular restaurant again. If so, maybe she will just bring her own.
Hopefully, either way, it's a lesson for the couple in taking a deep breath and letting go of a very minor dilemma. One can hope!
