Ever wonder what country superstar Dolly Parton’s go-to baking recipe is to treat her husband of over five decades?
In a segment on The Rachael Ray Show, the “Jolene” singer confessed that her husband is something of a “chocoholic,” so she’s made it a tradition to make him “a big old chocolate cake with the thick icing” on his birthday every year.
Dolly appeared for a video interview to promote her new baking collection with Duncan Hines featuring two limited edition cake mixes and two frostings, including a banana and coconut cake mix.
“There’s nothing better than a good old coconut cake or a banana pudding or a banana cake,” Dolly exclaimed as she displayed the Duncan Hines Dolly Parton Baking Collection, along with two very scrumptious-looking cakes in all their glory.
Dolly explains that it was pretty much a family affair when it came to cooking and baking growing up.
"I learned to cook from my mom, my grandmas, and my aunts and my sisters," Dolly shared. "We all get together and compare recipes." She explained that collaborating with Duncan Hines was the perfect fit because she has been using the brand's cake mixes all her life.
Along with the cake mixes and frostings, fans of the singer can also purchase a limited edition baking kit, which features everything you need to bake and frost these specialty cakes, along with a few other baking goodies.
Included in the kit is a cute tea towel covered in pink and yellow stars with the words “If you are what you eat, then why not be sweet?”
“That is so Dolly!” Rachael exclaimed, noting the overall positive sentiment that Dolly Parton effortlessly invokes.
