Allison was upfront about her desire start a family when she started dating Josiah. Not only did she know she wanted to be a mother right away, but she also knew she wanted to have a son named Jeremiah.
The happy couple got married and quickly started trying to get pregnant. But the journey proved much more difficult with more twists and turns than they ever expected.
Allison visited many fertility doctors, but the outlook was very bleak. She and Josiah came to accept the painful fact they wouldn't be able to conceive. So, they began considering adoption.
But even that became a major disappointment. According to WXYZ Detroit, "While about 1 million couples are interested in adopting a baby in the US, only about 18,000 babies are put up for adoption every year. The wait could be more than three years."
Starting a family seemed impossible.
That's when the couple happened upon a pamphlet describing an unconventional way to start a family. But Allison initially kept the plan a secret from her friends and family.
