Gena Wilson and her friend were just about to head out to run some errands when they ran back inside to use the bathroom. Gena left her van running — but when she came back outside a few moments later, the van was missing from the driveway.
Someone had just stolen her van … with her 3-month-old son, Ghyadi, strapped into his carseat in the back.
An Amber Alert was issued, and the entire community of Alton, Illinois, came together to search for Ghyadi.
"Please, if you see my van, if you see my baby, just bring them home," Gena begged the public. "Please bring them home. I'm so scared."
Brittney Ford, a mother of three who had never met Gena before, felt the calling to help. "Even though it wasn't my child, my heart sank," she said. "No mother should ever have to go through that."
Brittney went driving around town with her windows down and the music off, keeping her eyes and ears peeled to see if she could find baby Ghyadi. It was a long shot, but she was determined to at least try.
Then … unbelievably … Brittney heard cries coming from a ditch on the side of a little-used road.
